Different Types of Cosmetic Surgeries

Cosmetic surgery is growing more and more popular with every passing year. The procedure is done to correct body parts and to gain self-confidence. These surgeries have their own set of pros and cons. Most of these surgeries are performed for reconstructive purposes such as to improve the function and cure damaged parts of an organ. Some of the most common types of cosmetic surgeries today include the following:

1. Liposuction
This procedure is done to suck fat beneath the skin to attain a firmer and toned body. There are different ways to conduct this procedure, namely- a surgical procedure, tumescent liposuction, and ultrasonic-assisted liposuction. This procedure can be conducted to reduce fat in various parts of the body such as arms, back, buttocks, tummy, thighs, neck, etc. It is also used to reduce male breasts. The procedure has restrictions on the amount of fat that can be removed and this needs to be discussed in detail before cosmetic surgery.

2. Blepharoplasty
This surgery is done to correct and reshape eyelids. It is mainly performed on senior citizens with drooping upper lids or puffiness under the eye. This surgery is either opted for cosmetic or medical reasons or both. While the sagging of eyelids interrupts vision, it also makes a person look older. This procedure removes the excess of loose skin and fat around the eye.

3. Breast augmentation
This procedure is conducted to enlarge breast size in women. Most commonly women opt for this procedure when they have droopy or smaller breasts, or when one breast is smaller than the other, or when the breasts fail to develop even post-puberty. This surgery is conducted by implanting prosthetics made of silicone gel or saline and sometimes with fat grafting.

4. Rhinoplasty
A procedure conducted to correct the appearance of the nose is called rhinoplasty. It is performed for both medical and cosmetic reasons. A nose job can redefine your facial appearance by reducing the size and improving the areas around the nose. It is also performed for medical reasons like improving the breathing process, repairing facial injuries, and correcting birth defects.

5. Rhytidectomy
This is a procedure conducted to tighten facial muscles, also called a facelift. It is performed to reduce the aged appearance by removing wrinkles, reducing sagginess, and tightening the facial skin. Make sure you clear all your doubts about skin allergies caused after the surgery. The healing process usually takes around 10 to 12 weeks.

6. Lip augmentation
It is a procedure conducted to modify thinner lips into fuller-looking lips. The treatment results are not permanent and need to be imitated every 6 months. This procedure is conducted by injecting gel formulation which includes products like poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), hyaluronic acid, polymethylmethacrylate beads (PMMA) and hydroxyapatite. Just like other facial surgeries lip augmentation also needs to be verified before opting for it.

7. Buttock augmentation
This procedure is no different from other cosmetic surgeries. It is also done to achieve a better body appearance. It is conducted to either enlarge, tighten or reduce the area around the buttocks and is also known as buttocks lift.
